A lovely display of daffodils at the Enfield Living Memorial.


The memorial was officially inaugurated on Sunday September 24th, 2023. Some additional work and micro-events are planned for the future.
The Soroptimists thank Clockhouse Nursery for the donation of daffodil bulbs to add to the Enfield Living Memorial. We and volunteers braved the biting winter weather, to bring a pop of spring colour. We might not have been so brave that day of planting, if we had known it would snow in the afternoon.
Sunday 24th Sept saw the official inauguration of the Enfield Living memorial. With around two hundred people attending the informal open event. From one o’clock visitors came to view the work and mingle. Over fifty of them choosing to leave a small personal message of remembrance, which written on cards and tied to the trees.…
With the weather on our side the week of 18th Sept 2023 saw two benches installed, and the final sculpture delivered and erected in the ground. Our thanks to Bonnybond civil engineers for their hard graft, and concrete, to secure the steel work to its proper position in the centre of the heart of trees
Working close to a deadline the permanent sculpture has been cut. It forms the pattern of a phoenix surrounded by a pattern which combines the shape of flames and leaves.Made of a special sheet steel called COR-TEN the work is currently silver but in time it goes to a rust brown colour.

After months of planning the first spade finally went into the soil on Friday March 18th. Our initial hope had been to involve sections of the public in planting the trees but the uncertainties with Covid in the past few months made it unclear if we could do this. Time was not on our side…
