Due to the hard efforts of steering group members and the amazing generosity of individuals and organisation in the Borough of Enfield the Memorial has now passed the half-way mark to reach its fundraising goal.
Because of this we can now commit to the first elements of the project and have reserved four different kinds of trees which will create the heart shaped boundary of the memorial. The tree species are;
- A striking silver birch – Betula pendula Fastigiata
- Sturdy Hawthorn – Crataegus monogyna Stricta
- Wild crab apple with maple like leaves – Malus trilobata
- Golden leaved Elm – Ulmus carpinifolia Wredei Aurea
These trees were chosen by the steering group with advice from Enfield Council’s parks team. The company who will supply the trees have also kindly offered a percentage of them in kind, out of respect for the theme of our project.
